Tsivia Barkai

Tsivia Barkai is a director and writer. RED COW (2018) is her debut feature film. It was premiered at the 2018 Berlin International Film Festival and won the Best Israeli Film and Best Debut Film awards at the Jerusalem Film Festival. Her short film VIKA (2006) won the Best Short Film Prize in Berlin.

Red Cow takes place in the days leading up to the assassination of Rabin and depicts the life of Benny, 16, orphaned from mother at birth and the only child of Joshua - a religious, right-wing extremist, in those critical junctures when she is forming her sexual, religious and political awareness.
